There is nothing more comforting than a homemade chocolate cake. Here is a quick and easy chocolate cake recipe. Best thing is you don’t need eggs, milk or perishable ingredients. Since there aren’t any eggs or milk, it’s also vegan!
Note: the recipe below is for a cake like in the photo (9″ round), but this is a GREAT cupcake recipe. Half the recipe and it makes around 12 cupcakes.
Ingredients:
2/3 cup cocoa
2 cup sugar
3 cup flour
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp salt
4 tsp vanilla
1 cup vegetable oil
2 cup water
* 4 Tbsp white vinegar (set aside)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Mix dry ingredients together.
- Add wet ingredients into dry ingredients.
- Add vinegar last
- Bake 30-35 minutes. Note: This is the baking time for a cake, if you are making cupcakes reduce the time to 18 to 20 minutes. If you are unsure use a cake tester or toothpick inserted into the center. If it comes out clean it is baked. I also suggest rotating the pan halfway through the baking time to ensure consistent baking.
