Spring is a wonderful time of the year, but it can also be a time of unpredictable weather. One minute it’s sunny and warm, and the next it’s pouring rain or all muddy outside. While it may be tempting to stay indoors on these gloomy days, there are still plenty of fun things to do with kids that will keep them entertained, even when it’s muddy outside.
- Go puddle jumping
When life gives you puddles, jump in them! Put on some rain boots and head outside to see who can make the biggest splash. You can also create obstacle courses with the puddles, trying to jump over or around them.
- Make mud pies
Kids love getting their hands dirty, and what better way to do so than by making mud pies? Find a patch of mud, gather some sticks and stones, and let your imagination run wild. You can even decorate your mud pies with flowers and leaves.

- Have a scavenger hunt
Create a list of items for your kids to find outside, such as rocks, leaves, and flowers. You can also make it a nature scavenger hunt, where they have to find certain types of plants or insects. This is a great way to teach them about the environment and get them interested in nature.
- Build a fort
Use sticks and branches to build a fort outside. You can also use old blankets and sheets to create a cozy space to hang out in. This is a great way to encourage creativity and imagination, as well as to get some fresh air.
- Plant some flowers
Spring is the perfect time to start a garden, and what better way to get your kids involved than by having them help plant some flowers? Choose some colorful annuals that are easy to grow, and let your kids help dig holes and plant them. This is a great way to teach them about responsibility and caring for living things.
