The running joke in our house is when my husband surprised me for my birthday with a night out. Heading to downtown Montreal I was all a flutter wondering where the night would take us. As we were parking he finally broke down and told me we were going to see the Phantom of the Opera! For those of you who don’t know my husband this was a HUGE act of love since he had never seen an opera before. Where he dropped the ball was by starting the evening at a popular rotisserie chicken chain restaurant because it was the closest to Place des Arts. When we walked in I actually said “stop joking around where are we really going?”
Fast forward a few months and we are yet again going to Place des Arts, this time to see Les Misérables and with good friends of ours. Thankfully our foodie friend took the reins and booked us for dinner at Sésame. This Asian cuisine with a wide variety of Asian classics with a new twist was delightful. Later I found out that their array of dishes are all made from fresh products without added MSG and everything is made on-site. Started in 2011, the restaurant was packed and it was clear to see how they have such a large and growing fanbase.
Offering table service and a To-Go menu, the successful franchise in quartier des spectacles offers a unique fun atmosphere. Although the restaurant was packed the service was great. We, and almost the entire restaurant was served and out in time for the show. Tip: Check out the to share 5 or 6 service menu, for only $36 per person.
In an effort to help my husband, our friend also pointed out how you can reserve your table on line… hopefully there won’t be any more last-minute take-out dinners before a show!
