Looking for an easy baguette recipe for a last minute dinner or for your family during self isolation?
This is probably the easiest bread recipe you will find. The recipe is intended to make 2 large french baguettes, but you can shape it into one larger country-style loaf, or my kids favorite, smaller sandwich buns.
1. In a large bowl mix together:
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 Tbsp honey
- 1 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp active dry yeast
Mix and let sit aside for 5-10 minutes.
Note: I do not add the salt here, but with the flour and it still works out great.
2. Add 3 1/2 to 4 1/2 cups flour (you can use any kind, but organic is best). Mix with a wooden spoon until combined and tacky but not sticky.
3. Cover with a towel and let rise in a warm place for 20 minutes.
4. Shape into a log-type baguette shape. Cut slits on the top and bake at 400 degrees for 15-20 minutes.
Note: Baking time varies depending on your oven. I bake mine on a silicon mat and it helps prevent the bottom from cooking too quickly.
