Did you know Montreal has a wax museum?
Not only do we have a wax museum, but Grévin Montreal has over 125 characters, it’s easily accessible in the Montreal Eaton Centre. The wax characters in the Grévin Montreal Museum are from a wide variety of history, politics, sports and culture from North America and Europe. You can really see the influence of Grévin’s French parent company in the amount of French celebrities, in addition to the relevant Canadian and Québécois historical and culturally significant ones. But don’t worry if you’re not from Quebec there is Lady Gaga, Marilyn Monroe, Indiana Jones and a many other non-Quebec ones. Make sure to snap a selfie with one of my favorites, Ricardo!
Open since April 2013, the Grévin Museum characters are set in unique atmospheres and settings that utilize interactive sensors to bring the theatre to life. A popular tourist attraction and easy to navigate within 90 minutes, it’s not surprising Grévin Montreal received Trip Advisor’s 2019 Certificate of Excellence.
What goes into making a Grévin wax figure?
One wax figure can take 3 to 6 months to create. The face alone, is made up of 5 pounds of wax and can take 150 to get that life-like realism. That’s not to mention the 500,000 hairs used per figure and styled by professional stylists. It not only takes a lot to create the figures, but the maintenance of keepings it in precise temperatures and maintenance/upkeep is a surprising large amount of work too.
There really is something for everyone of all ages.
Kids can strike a pose with their favorite characters like Katy Perry, albert Einstein, Sidney Crosby or Le Petit Prince. Looking for something a little more interactive?
Check out Chocolats Favoris, Chocolate Universe. As a kid who grew up watching Willie Wanka and the Chocolate Factory, this makes all my childhood dreams come true. Until April 13 the Chocolat Favoris chocolate world allows you to discover everything chocolate. From learning about the history of chocolate, giant games, workshops and of course my favorite, tasting chocolat. Check their website because many of the free activities ar eon the weekends. But it could be a greta spring break or Easter plan. Did I mention they have an actual Willie Wanka type chocolate river with a boat that has a cool reading spot to chill and enjoy being surrounded by the sweet smell of cocoa.
Fan of the Quebec favorite movie Racetime (La course des tuques)? Well here’s your chance to experience the first virtual 5D group experience in Montreal. Strap on your 3d glasses and drive Frankie ‘Four Eyes’ sled down the hill as your sled jostles, your hair blows in the wind and you feel like you are actually part of the movie. The only drawback is it’s only here until April 26th you have to buy your Racetime tickets separately from admission and the ride is only 3 minutes and 40 seconds. But on a bright note there are 2 cars so you can race against someone else.
Want A little Extra?
If you want to make sure you don’t miss out on anything, opt to get the audio tour to get all the anecdotes and stories about the wax celebrities. Or create a was replica of your hand to take home as a souvenir.
