Like water and sunshine, travel with girlfriends is good for the soul. Taking a girl trip creates bonds that last a lifetime. There is nothing better to cement a friendship than with a trip to Vegas, the city known for partying and entertainment.
Girl trips can be hit or miss. Before you get planning, first make sure you are going with the right friends. Vegas is not for everyone. The city has a lot to offer, but it can also take a lot of energy. Take the time to discuss what everyone expects from the trip, hotel, meals, etc. We traveled with women will very different expectations, budgets and interests. Sometimes we did things together and sometimes we did things on our own. Since we all knew this in advance it worked out great.
How many friends should go? A weekend away is generally best suited for 4-6 friends. Fewer allows for less coordination and less work to create a memorable trip while managing everyone’s expectations for the weekend. Also, as the old saying goes, ‘what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas’ is easiest done with fewer people!
Why Vegas? Why not?
No kids, no work, no responsibilities! There are so many things to see and do in Las Vegas so jump right in. There is something for everyone’s interests. Take a moment to get silly with your girlfriends with poolside cocktail, luxury spa treatments, shopping or a guilt-free food binge. Even take a walk around, you will be surprised what you will see.
Not sure where to start? Check out the casinos. There are so many casinos on the strip, in downtown vegas, really everywhere. Just being on the floor with the lights and sounds it is something you will not experience anywhere else. Not to mention the history of many of the buildings and the unique features every casino has.
Remember if you do check out any casino’s, it’s always a good idea to set a gambling limit and stick to it. Also, tell your girls your limit so they can help you not go overboard.
Protip: remember the fancier the casino, the more difficult odds for winning on the slot machine and higher price to buy-in at the tables. Check out the older casinos off the strip for a better chance of winning.
Food for every craving
Las Vegas is one of the most famous food cities in the world. With celebrity restaurants, buffets with every imaginable food and more restaurants than you can count, you can indulge all of your food cravings. If you want to dine with a view, check out the 180-degree view of the Skyfall Lounge or GIADA which offers a front row to the Bellagio fountains.
Protip: Celebrity restaurants like Jean Georges and Emeril Lagasse are in high demand, so book in advance.
Go wild in Vegas!
Whatever your version of going wild is, a helicopter ride over Hoover Dam, getting a tattoo or going ziplining across downtown Vegas, Sin City is ready for you! You can make the trip even more memorable with matching t-shirts or hats to keep the memories alive after you return to your life.
See a Show
Just you and your girls for dinner and a show! Sounds great to me! From Cirque du Soleil, Celine, magic shows, or more risqué shows Vegas is the place for top-quality live entertainment. On this trip we waited till the last minute and decided to check out something a bit off the beaten path and saw Zombie.
Don’t want to see a show but still want to go out? Kick up your dancing shoes at the hottest clubs Las Vegas has to offer, and there are tons.
If you’re a mom of young kids and wants to kick it at the club but can’t do an all-nighter anymore, check out Las Vegas’ Pool Clubs. You get the atmosphere of a club with beautiful people, lots of drinks and an awesome DJ, at a pool setting, during the day!
Find some time for you
Whether it’s spending a day seeing non-stop attractions, or lounging by the pool, remember this is your trip, make sure you pick one thing you would like to do. Not often can you indulge in something you want, so remember YOU DESERVE THIS! It can be difficult to fit you time in when traveling with a group, so make it your priority.
Above all else, remember to be willing to compromise. Itinerary’s almost never get followed exactly. Each person has their own agenda and sometimes your willingness to compromise can open up a whole new adventure you might not have otherwise had. For me, my compromise got me into zip-lining, something I would have NEVER done on my own, but am grateful to have had that experience thanks to my amazing friends!
